As part of the March 18-24 Respect for the Elderly Week, pre-registrations were received within the scope of the “60+ Refreshment University” project at the Active and Healthy Aging Panel organized for the elderly individuals from Malatya in cooperation with Malatya Turgut Özal University (MTU) and Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Health and Social Affairs Department.
MTU Faculty of Health Sciences faculty members, students and elderly individuals from Malatya participated in the panel held on March 24th, 2022 in the conference hall of Malatya Metropolitan Municipality Art Center within the scope of the "60+ Refreshment University" project, which MTU Rector Aysun Bay Karabulut was closely interested in and supported.
MTU faculty member Dr. Ferhat Toper was the moderatator of the panel which carries the motto of "Long live Malatya, Refresh Malatya". In the panel where Dr. Ramazan Bayer's "Sports and Exercise in Old Age", Dr. Instructor Member Mert Kartal's "Quality of Life in Old Age" and Lecturer Barkın Dere's "Refreshment University Activities and Its Effects" presentations were made, one of the doctors of Malatya Training and Research Hospital, Uzm. Dr. Kübra Orman shared her knowledge on “Mental Health in Old Age”.
At the end of the panel, pre-registrations of 22 people were received among the elderly individuals who participated in the event. Elderly individuals whose registrations are finalized will be given training by MTU faculty members on a voluntary basis.
Malatya Turgut Özal University, as the first university in the Eastern Anatolia region to participate in the "60+ Refreshment University" project carried out by the Ministry of Family and Social Services for individuals aged 60 and over, which includes training for elderly individuals to have a healthy and high-quality old age, has taken part in this project as a party since November 3rd, 2021.
